Job Description
Warrah Specialist School is seeking a passionate and qualified Casual Teacher to join our dedicated team. We provide a caring and supportive learning environment tailored to the needs of students with disabilities from K – 12, fostering academic growth through individualised education plans, hands-on learning experiences, and the principles of Rudolf Steiner’s Curative Education.
As a casual teacher at Warrah Specialist School, you will:
Deliver engaging and individualised lessons aligned with NSW Board of Studies and Steiner Education Australia Curriculum requirements.
Support students through Individual Education Plans tailored to their unique needs.
Incorporate outdoor and practical learning including woodwork, weaving, music, drama, cooking, gardening, and farming.
Provide personal care support to students when needed, in a respectful and dignified manner.
Manage and respond to challenging behaviours using positive behaviour support strategies and trauma-informed practices.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and the broader Warrah community.
Participate in school events and contribute to the school’s warm, supportive learning environment.
Desired Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria:
Bachelor of Education and current NESA accreditation.
Experience supporting students with intellectual disabilities and special needs, preferably in primary settings.
Ability to adapt lessons to meet individual student needs, interests, and learning styles.
Commitment to inclusive education and the rights of people with disabilities.
Empathy, professionalism, and openness to creative and innovative teaching approaches.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Current NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC) and Working with Children Check (WWCC).
First Aid and CPR Certificate.
Valid NSW Driver’s Licence.
Desirable Criteria:
Knowledge of or willingness to engage with Rudolf Steiner’s Curative Education principles.
Familiarity with NSW Board of Studies and Steiner Education curricula.
Experience or interest in gardening/horticulture and outdoor education.
