Warrah is a disability services provider based in North West Sydney. Inspired by the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, Warrah has been offering quality support and services for adults and children living with disability for over 50 years. Warrah is a vibrant community, enriching the lives of individuals through our broad range of services, which include Supported Independent Living (SIL), Community Support Services (CSS) and Warrah Specialist School. We also have a certified Biodynamic Farm and Farm Shop.  

We are seeking Support Workers interested in our Community Support Services/Supported Independent Living. We have a casual shift available.

We are seeking motivated, empathetic and committed individuals to provide the highest quality person centered active support across multiple locations in the North West of Sydney.

Job Description

Key responsibilities:

  • Using a person centred approach, providing support that is responsive to each person’s Individual Plan.
  • Coaching and encouraging each client to make choices and decisions and maximise their autonomy and independence.
  • Working within the broader community to establish a positive image of people who have a disability and promoting their capacity to be contributing and valued members of society.
  • Providing support, including personal care to clients of Warrah.
  • Implementing high quality programs that meet the needs and choices of participants.
  • Contributing to the planning and development of the Disability Support Services.
  • Working within a framework of continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring a safe environment for both clients and staff.

Desired Skills and Experience

Desired Skills and Experience:    

  • Practical general knowledge of a human rights-based service approach to the individual and community context
  • Previous experience in supporting people with disabilities.
  • Ability to organise own work, manage time and contribute to work planning.
  • Effective listening skills and ability to seek, provide and/or share information in an appropriate and respectful manner.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as a team.
  • Physically fit and enjoys participating in physical activities.
  • Adheres to reporting, documentation and administrative requirements.
  • Cert III or IV in Disabilities or Aged Care is desirable.
  • NDIS Workers clearance, WWCC, Frist Aid 
  • Valid unrestricted driving licence with ability to drive a range of vehicles including cars, vans and 12 seater Hiace.
